St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church in Houston, Texas celebrated its 40th anniversary Nov. 6 with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and banquet.

This was a special occasion to give thanks to Almighty God for all His many gifts to us, but most of all for His Only Begotten Son, our Divine Savior, Jesus Christ. He has saved us and given us His Kingdom.

We thank the Lord for the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, and for the presence of our Metropolitan, Archbishop William Skurla. We thank the Lord for all those who have come before us in faith, without which, St. John Chrysostom Parish would not be here today.

We thank all those who belong to our parish family, for their prayers and spiritual support, and for all those who are able to share their talents and material goods in service of the Lord’s Church. And a special thanks to all those who helped in the preparations for the 40th anniversary of our Parish Family.

We owe all of this, and every good thing, to the mercy and loving kindness of God. In the words of the Apostle James: “For every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (Jas 1:17).
