ORE Training for Deacons and Facilitators Adult Faith Formation

Saturday, Jan. 17 – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
“Welcome to the Feast: The Story of the Eucharist in Scripture”

In preparation for the 2015 Great Fast, which begins Feb. 16, the Office of Religious Education (ORE) is offering a training session for Deacons and Facilitators of Adult Faith Formation on Saturday January 17, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary, 3605 Perrysville Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214. Those who previously have taught Adult Faith Formation in parishes as well as anyone invited by their pastors are welcome to attend.

This training program will acquaint participants with a 6-week course, “Welcome to the Feast: The Story of the Eucharist in Scripture,” authored by Clifford M. Yeary, associate director of Little Rock Scripture Study, which also is the publisher. The course package consists of: six (6) DVD lectures based on a synthesis of Catholic biblical scholarship on the Holy Eucharist; a textbook for participants; a Study Guide for the Facilitator and an Answer Guide. Supplemental materials on understanding and appreciating the Holy Eucharist from an Eastern perspective and the Early Church Fathers also will be provided for course participants.

To avoid marriage and preserve her virginity, she assumed male attire and entered a monastery of Monks to frustrate a search for her. She retired into a cell and for 38 years was looked upon as a holy man. Even her own father sought spiritual advice from her and appreciated her counsels. He assisted at her last moments. Only then did she disclose her identity. After her death about A.D. 470 her father took possession of her cell where he passed the rest of his days in penance and prayer.
