National Vocation Awareness Week November 6-12

Take time to Pray for Priestly, Diaconal, Monastic Vocations

National Vocation Awareness Week 2016 will be celebrated across the U.S. November 6 through 12. All Catholics are urged to pray for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons and consecrated (monastic) men and women: may they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and also respond generously to God’s gift of a vocation.

National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) is designed to help promote vocation awareness and to encourage faithful of all ages to ask the question: “To what vocation in life is God calling me?” Parish and school communities across the nation are asked to include, during the first full week in November, prayer and special activities that focus on vocation awareness.

The Intereparchial Vocations Commission (IEVC) of the Metropolitan Church will sponsor three vocations-related promotional activities which will extend throughout 2017: 1) a promotional video contest; 2) a new take-home vocations icon and prayer program; and 3) the “Called By Name” vocations recommendation program. Look in future parish bulletins for announcements regarding these upcoming ways to participate in fostering and promoting vocations in our parish, in our homes, and throughout the Metropolitan Church.
